Madrid in 3 days: museums, neighbourhoods and transport without needless crossings
A useful route combining the Prado, historic centre, Retiro and one evening district while choosing the right airport or station transfer.

Quick answer
For three days, stay in a central area with a direct connection and choose one major museum rather than the whole Art Walk. Pair the Prado area with Retiro, give another day to historic Madrid, and reserve the third for one neighbourhood that matches your interests. Walk within each zone and check CRTM before buying a pass.
My rule for not living inside a museum
My way of ordering Madrid: choose a base in Centro, near Retiro or on a direct Atocha line according to your arrival. Keep the first day free of rigid bookings and finish the last close to your luggage.
If you only want one art morning, choose the collection you genuinely care about. The route improves when the museum is a decision, not an obligation that controls the whole day.
One museum and one neighbourhood: choose the trade-off
Art and park
The Prado area and Retiro make a complete day with a break. Avoid adding another major collection that afternoon.
Historic centre
Group Plaza Mayor, the Palace area and a meal without crossing the city. Three priorities are enough.
Third neighbourhood
Choose one: Chamber铆 for a calmer pace, Malasa帽a for atmosphere, or Lavapi茅s for cultural variety and food.

Day 1 路 Arrival
Settle in, take a short central walk and eat near your base. Avoid timed admission if transport may be delayed.
Day 2 路 Prado and Retiro
Chosen museum, a break and the park. Leave one free slot for heat, tiredness or galleries that take longer.
Day 3 路 Centre and one neighbourhood
Historic centre in the morning, lunch, then one neighbourhood. Return with margin to collect luggage.
